The AGC style strives to approximate our understanding of Shakespeare’s staging conditions, giving playgoers an Elizabethan / Jacobean experience in which the audience is an active participant in the world of the play.
By performing in shared light, the actors and audience experience the play together. The crowd, which surrounds the activity on stage, becomes the weary army, the guests at the wedding, and the friend to the soliloquy.
The Elizabethan & Jacobean audiences expected "sound and fury" from live musicians to onstage cannon fire. The AGC brings the rock concert back to the Shakespeare experience with singing, instruments, and more.
Our repertory company will not only play roles both at the Globe and the Stratford Playhouse, they will also double roles in Shakespeare's worlds in the plays. In Will's time, we think most companies generally had about 15 actors - Richard III has FIFTY roles. Our actors will seamlessly step between parts and create a complete world of characters.
